President Barak Obama is seeking new ways to control the gun accessibility from "a dangerous few". Without any new law on the subject of gun control, he wants to keep guns out of the reach of a few dangerous fellows.
Officials said, Obama is scheduled to meet his attorney general, Loretta Lynch, on Monday, regarding the issue.
Obama said during his weekly radio address that, "The gun lobby is loud and well organized in its defense of effortlessly available guns for anyone. The rest of us are going to have to be just as passionate and well organized in our defense of our kids." He gets several letters from teachers, children and parents on the issue of "epidemic of gun violence", he added later.
According to the White House, Obama currently directed his staff for taking some potential executive actions. Federal licensing of firearms compulsorily need to check the background of the applicants. On the other hand, some advocacy groups say that, some of the people are not federal licensed, who sell firearms in the gun shows. These types of deals increase the risk of sales to the wrong hands. Might be possible, people who are prohibited by law from purchasing guns, can purchase it from gun shows.
This is the final year of Obama in the office. He said, he wants to move forward on an unfinished issue in the last year.
He said in weekly address, "That's especially true for one piece of unfinished business, that's our epidemic of gun violence." According to a bipartisan bill, it was required to check background for almost everyone, but the Senate blocked it.
"Each time, we're told that common sense reforms like background checks might not have stopped the last massacre, or the one before that, so we shouldn't do anything," he said. "We know that we can't stop every act of violence. But what if we tried to stop even one?"
