The police said that, the two black males shot Simpson, and left him for dead and drove away in the 2010 black Ford Escape. Surveillance video from the neighbor's home appears to show that the suspects SUV leaving the home after shooting.
Linda Kienker, who lives nearby said that, "All of a sudden, I heard what sounded like shots, you know, 'bang, bang, bang, bang,' about four or five shots. I'm still shaking. I mean, I just can't believe it happened in this neighborhood. It's a wonderful neighborhood and people look out for each other, at least, we try to."
Farhat said it is possible that the two suspects in the shooting were also involved in other burglaries on Sunday and Monday afternoon on the Northside. He also said that, the descriptions of the men and the vehicle matched in several cases, and the weapon was seen in at least one other incident.
Several victims in the other cases reported that the burglaries said they also confronted the suspects.
Chris Beck, who lives in the neighborhood said that he was stunned by the "terrible" deadly shooting.
Farhat said, the two suspects should be considered as armed and dangerous. He also said, it is possible the two were skipping school, but it is unclear how old they are.
Jimmy Speakman, who also lives nearby said that he hopes police will catch them soon, but will remain vigilant until then.
