Shariya refugee camp is the shelter for thousands of Yazidis who have fled the ISIS assault. But not everyone was lucky to escape the terror.
An article published in online magazine ‘Dabiq’ which is titled as "The revival of slavery before the hour," states the enslavement of the Yazidis under the group.
"One should remember that enslaving the families of the kuffar (infidels) and taking their women as concubines is a firmly established aspect of Shariah," the article reads.
Hanan, 19, a refugee spoke openly on their brutal condition in region occupied by ISIS group.
The article mentioned either men were forced to convert to Islam or being shot, but women were forcibly used as sex workers.
"They separated all of us," Hanan said. "They dragged us away by our hair. They took married women, young ones. The youngest with us was just 10. We were all crying. They said we are going to marry you off, you will forget your family."
Hanan said she along with 50 others were made to stay in a three storey building in Mosul which she described as a sex slave warehouse. For first week, they were beaten and threatened with torture.
"They would line about 50 of us up at a time, in rows of 10. They would say don't move, don't cry or we will beat you. The men would come in and describe the kind of girl they wanted and then they would pick and choose as they pleased," she recalls.
Eventually, Hanan was able to escape from the captivation of ISIS group when the group of 50 was segregated.
