As the city of London vows not to let terrorist change how they live, the acts did cause concern for parents in the South Florida, whose children were spending spring break in London. The group of William T. Dwyer High School students are back home after the tragic London attack.
The Dwyer High School junior Gabriella Dellepiane, aged 16, shared some of her photos of what she described as the dream trip to Europe with classmates.
The high school student also shot video of the landmarks like Buckingham Palace and Changing of the Guard. But Dellepiane and also her classmates never imaged, in these moments that they would face fear.“It was really scary because I didn’t even have cellphone reception,” said Dellepiane.
The group had seen Parliament and also made their way a few hundred yards to the Westminster Abbey, when the church bells were suddenly drowned out by sirens and chaos. Westminster Abbey went into the lockdown for safety.

“I just remember seeing helicopters overhead when we left the Abbey and just being really scared,” said Dellepiane.
More than a 4,000 miles away, Gabriella’s parents could not believe what was happening, knowing that their daughter was there.
“When I was seeing all the video of what was going on, on the bridge, it was just horrifying,” Gabriella’s mother, Jen Dellepiane said. “Later I found out it was ISIS related, terrorist attack related, and of course, I panic more.”
Jen soon found out that all the students were safe. A relief for the parents who said, what has happened has become an eye-opening experience for them.
The Dellepianes said that this experience shows how precious life is and how things can literally change in a matter of seconds. Dellepiane also said the school is offering counseling services for students who are troubled by the experience.
